Yesterday, we hosted our latest bring a friend class—and once again, it reminded us why this format is one of our all-time favorites. These classes blend energy, fun, and community in a way that’s hard to replicate anywhere else.
When the gym fills with pairs of friends—one introducing, one discovering—it’s a different kind of magic. There’s laughter, teamwork, a little friendly competition, and that unmistakable buzz that happens when people share something meaningful together.
What is a bring a friend class?
A bring a friend class is a special session at CrossFit Kreis 9 where members can invite a friend to join them for a workout. Instead of watching from the sidelines or doing a separate introduction, friends jump straight into the action with someone they already know and trust.
This makes the first encounter with CrossFit both comfortable and inspiring. Members get to show their friends how they train, where their fitness results come from, and why they love this community. For newcomers, it’s a safe, guided, and friendly way to experience CrossFit for the first time—no pressure, no intimidation.
Each bring a friend class is designed for mixed levels. Experienced athletes can go all out, while beginners can scale down to match their own ability. Nobody is left behind, and everyone leaves the gym with that satisfying “I did it!” feeling.

Why the bring a friend class benefits everyone
For newcomers, the bring a friend class is a perfect entry point. Having a friend by your side makes everything less intimidating. You learn by watching, doing, and sharing the experience together. You immediately feel part of something bigger than just a workout.
Members, on the other hand, love these classes because they get to share something personal. They introduce their friends to the place where they’ve built strength, confidence, and habits that last. It’s a proud moment to say, “This is where I train—and yes, it’s as fun as it looks.”
For the community, these classes create an atmosphere unlike any other. New faces bring new energy, and returning members show what consistency looks like. It’s a reminder that progress is contagious—and that everyone, from their very first class onward, belongs here.
Why we don’t do trial trainings in regular classes
A common question we hear is: “Why can’t my friend just come to a regular class to try it out?”
It sounds easy—but in practice, it doesn’t serve anyone well. Regular classes move at the rhythm of experienced members. For a newcomer, that can be too fast, too technical, or simply too much at once. It also divides the coach’s attention, which can affect both the member experience and the newcomer’s safety.
The bring a friend class solves this beautifully. It’s structured specifically for mixed experience levels, allowing the coaches to provide proper guidance and attention. Everyone gets an appropriate challenge, and everyone has fun.
If you’d like a deeper explanation, read our post Why we don’t offer trial trainings at CrossFit Kreis 9. It explains exactly why we’re so intentional about how new people experience CrossFit for the first time—and why that first impression matters so much.
A class designed for belonging
The bring a friend class isn’t just about introducing CrossFit—it’s about belonging. It shows that fitness can be social, supportive, and genuinely fun. You don’t have to be “fit enough” to start; you just have to show up.
Every time we run one of these classes, we’re reminded that everyone was once a beginner. Having a friend to share that first workout with changes everything. It replaces nerves with laughter and turns hesitation into motivation.
Spots go fast—really fast
Here’s the thing: our bring a friend class is always fully booked. Every single time. We open registration the moment the next date is published, and spots are gone within minutes.
Why? Because our members love bringing their friends—and because we keep the classes intentionally small to ensure quality coaching and a great experience for everyone. If you want to be part of the next one, keep your eyes on our newsletter or social media channels, and don’t hesitate when you see the announcement. Fast fingers win.
